Surprise, Arizona is one of the fastest growing areas in the state. Located 20 miles northwest of Phoenix in the Salt River Valley, Surprise boasts a convenient location with affordable housing. Many retirees end up in Surprise to enjoy the luxurious Sun Grand City, a resort-like retirement community. This classically Southwestern town has a small-town feel with big city amenities.

Surrounded by mountain parks, the Sonoran desert and a nearby lake, there is much to do in the beautiful outdoors. Hiking and biking are popular in the White Tanks Regional park as are the eight local golf courses. Sports and recreation are popular pastimes in Surprise. The Aquatic Center has pools, waterfalls and slides, while the Dreamcatcher Park is the city's first all-access sports facility.

Surprise is the spring training home for both the Kansas City Royals and the Texas Rangers. These Major League baseball teams train in the Surprise Stadium. Children and adults alike turn out to watch their favorite athletes as they gear up for the season ahead. For those more interested in art, Surprise is the home of the Heard Museum of Native Cultures and Arts.
